For best results use on bleached or pre-lightened hair, although some deeper shades may give a sheen or hint of colour to darker hair. Dye results may vary depending on hair type, hair porosity & base colour. Always follow manufacturer’s instructions fully. Do not condition hair prior to use as this can smooth the hair follicle and act as a barrier on the hair. Always shake tub/bottle beforehand or use a mixing bowl to ensure colour pigments are well mixed. Colours in the tub/bottle are not necessarily an indication of the final hair colour and the dyes can vary slightly between batches, therefore dye results cannot be guaranteed. Brilliant colour, only downside is i ran out of dye. my hair is waist level and i hoped one tub would do. The result is still good and i would recommend this dye to anyone else.

The first coating of this gave me a really nice passion pink, I went over it again and it turned into a really vibrant red. It lasts a really long time, after about 6 washes it started to fade into a nice deep pink. It lasted about 6 weeks on bleached hair.

Very Bright! More so than Baby Pink. It is sharper. Went on to my bleached hair very well, Only need to leave on for 1/2 an hour with a bit of heat. Lasted 7 days being washed every day with colour care shampoo before it needed a top up to cover my hair returning to its yellowish lightened colour. Good for the price, you might need to buy 3 bottles to dye a full head of shoulder length hair!

I decided to dye the top layer of my hair purple (plum) and bottom layer black (pitch black) after reading up on stargazer hair dye I felt confident enough to dye my hair. I got set up and the hair dye comes in a bottle and there is no mixing required, and the hair dye can be kept for up to 2 yrs even after opening. It was very messy, like a gel and plenty of combing was needed to totally cove rmy hair but there was no smell which you can get for other hair dyes, Even though all surfaces were covered I still managed to getsome hir dye onto the carpet which has still not com up. I rinsed the black dye off my hair after leaving it 50 minutes, 10 minutes longer than max required time I noticed that the water was blue, the hair dye was a turqouise colour which I know that black is not a colour in itself but a tint of another colour.I blow dry my hair and at first the colour looks good and myhair wasblack but after a couple of days it has turned GREEN i had only washed it twice and had not gone swimming. It had gone so green that others noticed it, good job my purple hair could cover it up. I wouold not try this again and would suggest getting a hair dye with a morepopular brand and a bit more money,with this dye it has proven that you get what you pay for. -Leanne-

This dye is a staple of my bathroom cabinet, as the coverage is so amazing and it cares for my hair so well that I often turn to it in times of crisis! When I’ve been disappointed by the result of another hair colourant, I can always rely on this shade to completely cover it and create a deep, shimmery pinky colour instead. This one does stain the shower quite badly when rinsing it out or washing it (it’s always scrubbed off eventually in my experience), though, but it’s worth it if you’re prepared to risk that!

It turned out a lot more blue than I’d hoped for – I mean, in the sun it is really, really purpleISH-blue. Mostly blue, and at night or inside it finally takes on a more purple look. I didn’t really like it all that much, but a lot of my friends said they did. It faded to a gross gray and VERY quickly, after only a few washes. I wouldn’t buy this product again, unfortunately. -SarahJeanne-

I love this colour when its fresh its really nice. But does bleed out alot when washed for the first time. Does have some staying power but does start to look greyish blue after afew washes. I have had to touch it up after a while. But still looks good when first done. -Squir-

I love this colour, I’ve used it a lot. Ensure your hair is a very light bleached blonde before you begin and you’ll sing it’s praises too! A very VERY pretty blue based purple which fades to a stunning liliac after a few weeks. Really lovely!

This is a beautiful shade of blue , i recieved lots of compliments . I mixed half of this with half of Bad Boy Blue from Manic Panic and got the blue i wanted. Bleached my hair first , ended up with lighter roots than ends , so the tips of my hair are darker than roots – but made no difference to the wow factor this product gives 😀

Dyed this colour over another brand faded blue. It’s gone quite a pretty colour, not as blue as I’d of hoped and I’m sure within another wash my hair will be a grey-green colour. I would recommend washing your hair using cold water, as less dye comes out. Also after rinsing the dye out use conditioner, it seems to prevent the dye from washing out. After reading these reviews I wish I’d left the dye on for longer!

More of a very dark cerise than a red =S I’m very confused as to why it came out this way – my hair was medium yellowy blonde, and I left the hair dye on for 11 hours whilst I slept. It’s a beautiful colour, its just not red at all. -Jo-

Very very bright, but what kind of red you get isn’t garunteed, I’ve dyed it about 4 times and my colour has changed EVERY time. Also colour lasts about 2 weeks but after that you start going ginger round the edges, after about a month my fringe and ends of my hair have gone blonde and the rest is completely ginger. This does not stay red for long.

Its such an amazing blue and I got soo many compliments! I bleached my fringe and bottom of my hair and it looks amazing and bright and this is the only dye thats stayed on my hair for over a week but for me, it faded into a strange grey colour but to me thats no worries cos i can just put more on it. teehee x

I bleached and toned my hair to a light ash blonde colour from black (no easy task!!!) and put on one and a half directions pots on my thick medium length hair. I left this on for 8 hours over night (slept with clingfilm, old tights and a plastic bag on my head!!) the initial colour was a bright deep blue with turquoise hints throughout (it was bright turquoise in sunlight) After a few washes this became a beautiful bright turquoise and I looked like a mermaid!! At 6 weeks time my hair looked a greeny teal turquoise colour, still impressive but alas I work in a school so it had to go. Excellent coverage, major staying power!!!

This has to be one of the most brilliant blue hair dyes i’ve ever used. As i type this im just topping up the colour but the colour last for this hair dye is ages ! . Doesnt stain like most hair dye’s and does not have that horrible green colour when it fades . Great colour highly recommened ! x

Great color, verry bright and verry strong! lasts verry long! I can’t get the dye completely out my hair. The color started at a darker turquoise and faded to a lighter one. If you have yellowish blonde hair, at the last point it fades a bit into greenish blue.

Kick ass.. I put this on honey blonde-pink (faded from dark purple) bleached hair, while it was dry, and it held fantastically. The colour is darker than most of the gallery, its this beautiful blue-violet, medium depth (definitely not a light colour) but that’ll fade. Depth and bluish tone still strong after 2 washes.

This is a beautiful colour when first applied but quickly fades to a yucky hospital green colour. I found blue dyes to be more high maintained than red/pink dyes.

Pink-based red. I heavily diluted it with conditioner. It is a great dye for mixing neutral reds (with an orange based red) or for a nice warm pink. Even for pastel pink it is great, but it will not hold very long. Considering the price, this is great!

Best blue I have ever used! It’s been 3 weeks now and has not faded one bit! Really the only complaint I have is that it’s a bit more greenish then advertised on the box.. It looks exactly like Mystical mint, which was the color I used with it. But overall, a pretty good dye.

Absolutely amazing! I am thoroughly pleased. Following 2 separate peroxide stripping efforts on dyed dark brown hair, I found my natural strawberry blonde colour… and there was also a few stray patches of bright platinum in there. I was thrilled with the platinum blonde, knowing that the pink dye would take well on those bits of my hair, but slightly worried about the more orangey bits of my natural hair …. I didn’t want to end up sort of pink and sort of crazy orange!! Happily, the Flamingo Pink dye was up to the challenge! It took beautifully and with minimal skin and clothes staining (and I’m a messy girl!). I just love it. Where my hair was stripped back to more blonde, the pink is undoubtedly brighter and more magenta in tone, but the slightly different shades of pink it makes on my head are so pretty and complimentary that I’m just jumping for joy. So if you want to go pink – use Flamingo Pink Directions dye. I can’t recommend it enough. Looks great, smells great when you are waiting for it to develop, even my 10 month old son was smiling while his mummy transformed before his eyes! -Ellie-

I thought it was GREAT. I bleached my hair to a light blonde and put the blue over it. I got a neat kinda multi-toned effect, which some people might not have wanted but I LOVED it! It looked like a beautiful ocean, with some darker and lighter streaks. And it lasts really well. I’ve had it for about a month, including going swimming and hanging out in the sun frequently. It lasted a very long time, even when I used hot water on it. It’s by far the nicest pink I’ve ever used, and I’ve used a LOT of different brands. It starts off as a highlight bright pink, then fades to a gorgeous and adorable baby pink.

A CRAZY colour! I applied it to almost white hair with yellowish tips and it turned out very vibrant green glowing turquoise in the sunlight. I kept it on my hair for approx. 6 hours and it started washing out after almost a month and didn’t need any touching up until then!

I just looove this color! In the first wash the color is like ‘beetroot’, but a little more pinkish. In the next washes it’s a ‘light beetroot’. (just for the record: my hair was a platinum blond before, I think if it was a darker blond the Rubine color would be a little more redish, like it appears on stores catalog) Very original and beautiful color! -Litylon-

I’ve used this on myself and a friend, and same results both times. It is such a rich colour that just lasts and lasts when taken care of. Fades to a nice purple-pink colour and eventually out to a white-ish shade. It lasted very well (2 weeks before any sign of fading) over my hair which was only bleached dark yellow with some orangey tips in places. On my parts which were bleached white it wouldn’t come out – stayed dark purple, had to bleach it out. So this dye is for people who want a long lasting colour 🙂 I also use this in my shampoo as a toner on my hair which is now blonde, works ok (:

I originally bought violet to use over bleached hair, but I thought I should give it a try on dyed mid-brown/ginger hair first. It worked a lot better than I thought! I’ve only put it in my fringe, so it’s a small flash of colour. So easy to use and will definitely be using again.

This dye stains more easily than the other dyes I’ve used so be careful with it lol. The dye is so thick and creamy it makes my hair feel so lovely and soft when applying and after drying. (sfx doesn’t feel as nourishing). i dyed over faded candy apple red and for me the colour has lasted really well! It fades a pink colour. I’d say the first 4-5 washes didn’t change the colour much. it’s still washing out with bright pink shampoo bubbles too 😀 I didn’t notice much of a difference when I mixed it 1:1 with conditioner and applied it to my wet hair after washing to touch it up though…. :/ that might be because it wasn’t that faded in the first place lol. I used about 3/4 of a tub on my fine hair which is about 2 inches past my collar bone but I didnt use it sparingly. 4 quid is a good price for it though! I will be buying directions again but I still love my SFX 😀
